Veronica made 15 of these. They are for an exchange with her retreat group. Yes, she has a retreat group. They are called the Character Quilters and they meet 4 times a year. They have members from the Houston area and The Dallas/Fort Worth area. Oklahoma and Arkansas are represented as well. They do an exchange once a year, the last one was "Beach", they've done "Hearts" and Red, White and Blue. There have been others, but these are the ones she's participated in. These blocks are due in October and then they will start working on "Teapots/Teacups". They have over 20 members, but the retreats are usually limited to 14. They don't really "limit" it and never tell anyone that they can't come, but the space is limited. 14 seem to fit really well. They usually only get that many that sign up for any retreat. They do have a great time and she loves her retreat group. They do have a few games that they play, I like "the stealing game". They do that game twice, sometimes it goes on and on and on, they have lots of laughs. Veronica says "I'm so lucky to have found this group, I hope you have a group of friends like this. Quilting is always more fun with a group of great friends and spending Thursdays thru Sundays 4 times a year is just the best time anyone can have". Veronica says I get to go next time, I'm so excited.

Cutting it close
Wow, that's an understatement. Veronica used up another spool, but it doesn't count. Why? Well, because she used it for embroidery. She's only counting spools she uses for piecing. So this spool is already in the trash can. Can't be counted, it's gone.
Aren't these boots cute?

Any the numbers are...
I told you I would keep you posted on Veronica's use of thread, and here we are half way through the year and her grand total is......22 spools. All cotton thread, none used for bobbins, as she loves to use pre-wound bobbins on all of her machines.
She'll have another one pretty soon. This is the way she left her sewing machine when she left retreat.
So I would say she got a lot done, but nothing really completed. She's going to get some UFO work done. She's motivated now. There will be more spools soon. Let's see if her year ends with 44 spools. The pressure is on now...
See you on Monday.

Another One Bites the Dust
Yes, one more spool is gone. And we've got another quilt top to add to our stack. Veronica says she's going to quilt it on her 8900. That's her favorite sewing machine these days, and yes, she got it from Scott at Citrus Sew and Vac. She actually has 2 of these machines. Why 2, you ask? Well, just in case somebody needs to borrow one of course. Not just anyone though, only her daughter. Her daughter did have an issue with her machine and was not able to finish her part of a round robin round. We won't say bad things about that machine, but it was not a Janome. Veronica's wonderful son-in-law went out and bought her daughter a new machine and returned Veronica's machine to her. He even carried to Veronica's car for her, he's awesome.
Sooooooooooo, how many machines do you have?
Do you like this fabric? It is available from Cactus Quilts in Texas City. The appliques are a panel. She just went over there on Tuesday to get her border fabric to finish it off with floating stars and all of the fabric is available. As a matter of fact, this quilt will be hanging at Cactus Quilts when Veronica gets it quilted.
See ya'll Monday, I'm taking the weekend off.

Remember this picture?
We started with six spools in the bowl.
Then she added these 3 spools before she went on her 5 weeks of "cruisin" on her quilt cruises.
She took 6 projects that were already cut and a couple of UFO's, you know, just in case...
She took six spools of thread and guess what? She used them all up. Yes, she really did, all by herself. See, here they are. We even have a picture of the sewing machine in her cabin.
She's not spoiled at all. Shhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell her I said that.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
