More retreat pictures

Everyone had such a great time at retreat.  It's ashamed it's over.  The good news is that Veronica's retreat group meets 4 times a year and they have such a great time at retreat.  The group is from all over, quilters come from the Houston area, the Dallas area, Waco, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Sometimes this is the only time they get to see each other.  So they really look forward to these great retreats. This retreat had three newbies.  Welcome to our group!

This was made by Elsa, a newbie, it's for her guild challenge.

This is Ann's quilt.

This is Veronica's top.

Another one of Veronica's top.  Both of these were exchanges from a group that meets at Fabrics Etc. in Webster, Texas.  Winnie is the fearless group leader.  This is also a great group.

This is Veronica's new light.  The girls at retreat bring 2 gifts to exchange in a white elephant game. There is a lot of stealing, and lots of laughter.  Soooooo...... till April, when the next retreat is .  The group will try a new place in Huntsville, Texas, it's called 12 Pines.  This retreat was a Margie's retreat house in La Grange, Texas.  Yes, La Grange was made famous by Marvin Zindler and the Chicken Ranch.  Texas is full of surprises!

We're off to retreat

Just a sampling of what we're taking to retreat.  We've got 3 suitcases full of stuff to work on.  We'll be showing you finished projects as we get them done.  How about you, do you go to retreat?  We love them, we have so much fun, we laugh and eat and stay up half the night.  It's just a lot of fun, Think about getting a group together and doing  a retreat if you've never been on one.

Retreat at Margies

Have you been to Margie's retreat in La Grange, Texas?  It is awesome!  We just spent 4 days there and had a wonderful time.  And yes, La Grange is where the famous "Chicken Ranch" used to be. Margie's retreat house is located at 2645 Kallus Road in La Grange, Texas  78945.  You can find her at RR Retreats.com.  Your group will have a wonderful time, we do every time we go.   We usually go twice a year.  These are a couple of things that I have worked on there.

This picture was taken at Margie's from down below.  We hang our quilts from her loft to get great pictures.

Retreat Pictures

Here are some retreat pictures from the week long retreat Veronica went on.  Here is Jaggie with a few 5" purple Sawtooth Star blocks.

This is the top, minus borders.  Veronica poached fabric from another quilt and got he borders on before she went home.

This was her next project.  A mini, mini Mariner's Compass.

As you can see, it is only 6".

This is her Birds In The Air quilt top.  It is pretty big.

This is her Blue Ridge Beauty exchange blocks.  She did this exchange with her group from the Bay Area Quilt Guild.  It is from a Bonnie Hunter book.

Here is Jaggie with a 38" Lone Star using Quiltsmart interfacing.

Here is the finished top.

Here I am with a stack of tops Veronica finished.

I don't know about you, but I'm pooped.  Here I am catching a snooze while the ladies eat dinner.

Ok, these are some of the other quilts that were made at retreat.

This one belongs to C.

This one is V's.

Here is P's.  We really do know their names, but we don't like to put their full names for safety sake.  Better to be safe than to be sorry.

Retreats are a lot of fun.  If your guild has a retreat and you have never been, try it out.  We had lots of laughs, lots of good food, and great memories that we won't soon forget.  Veronica is off to another retreat on Thursday with another group of ladies.  Look for those pictures next week.

Here is another one of Veronica's tops.

Here are the stars with the borders.

This is her shades 4 patch.

What fun we had.  Thanks C. for making room for us at the last minute.

Retreat time

Veronica  was going to to to Bend, Oregon tomorrow, but these Texas allergies are kickin" her behinnie.  So instead, she and one of our other employees, we'll call her V, are off to retreat.  Actually they left here yesterday.  Veronica called to see if they still had room and they did, so she packed her bags and off they went.  There were 11 in all going to retreat.  This is a new place called Stoney Creek.  she should get plenty done.  Veronica took enough stuff to keep her there for a couple of weeks.  They'll only be gone this week, but she did not want to run out of stuff and be bored.  Here is a little bit of her pile of "stuff" going to retreat.  We'll get a peak at what she gets finished when she gets home.  She took things that were on her UFO list.  She also took a couple of scrappy quilts for future classes.

So we'll have to wait till Monday to see what they both got done.

Cutting it close

Wow, that's an understatement.  Veronica used up another spool, but it doesn't count.  Why? Well, because she used it for embroidery.  She's only counting spools she uses for piecing.  So this spool is already in the trash can.  Can't be counted, it's gone.

Aren't these boots cute?

Veronica made 15 of these.  They are for an exchange with her retreat group.  Yes, she has a retreat group.  They are called the Character Quilters and they meet 4 times a year.  They have members from the Houston area and The Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Oklahoma and Arkansas are represented as well. They do an exchange once a year, the last one was "Beach", they've done "Hearts" and Red, White and Blue.  There have been others, but these are the ones she's participated in.  These blocks are due in October and then they will start working on "Teapots/Teacups". They have over 20 members, but the retreats are usually limited to 14.  They don't really "limit" it and never tell anyone that they can't come, but the space is limited.  14 seem to fit really well.  They usually only get that many that sign up for any retreat.  They do have a great time and she loves her retreat group.  They do have a few games that they play, I like "the stealing game".  They do that game twice, sometimes it goes on and on and on, they have lots of laughs.  Veronica says "I'm so lucky to have found this group, I hope you have a group of friends like this.  Quilting is always more fun with a group of great friends and spending Thursdays thru Sundays 4 times a year is just the best time anyone can have". Veronica says I get to go next time, I'm so excited.

Debbie Caffrey

Veronica has been on the phone with Debbie today.  Debbie is going to have a retreat in February 2015 and Veronica luckily gets to go.  I'm stowing away in the suitcase.  Debbie can't be away from me for to long, she really misses me.  Veronica will be there with Scott from Citrus Sew and Vac. They will bring all of the machines for all of those lucky ladies to use.  Charlotte Angotti  will also be there and she and Debbie will teach 3 days of classes.  Check out Debbie's website if you would like to go.
