Tip Thursday-The Applique Pressing Sheet

I received this e-mail from a customer today and thought I would share it with you.  she is actually not the only one who has e-mailed or called to tell me this .

I have been researching slider sheets for free motion machine quilting and they are very pricey so I started looking for other ideas, one being a Teflon baking sheet. Then, I happened to look over to my peg board of notions ( enough to start my own store...) and found my Applique sheet which is 18 x 20" . Ta Da !! it is also NON stick and very slick ......if you get my drift. I just unrolled it on my machine and it almost covers the 18 x 24" extension table.  I think this would work but I will use painters tape to keep it down.
I am so thrilled that I had this!

So there you go, another use for The Applique Pressing Sheet.

2 1/2" Templates

Have you seen these great new templates?  They all work with 2 1/2" strips.  There are quite a few more, but these were the ones I thought would work great.  There are hexagons, 45 degree triangles, 60 degree triangles, a mini Dresden plate, and one called Mini Fat Cat that is a tumbler.  They also have one that makes a 6" 54-40 or Fight block.  We've played with a few and they are so much fun. You can use them to hang on your key change and if you have a quilting emergency, well, you've got a template you can use!  Quilting emergency averted!

We'll ave some projects soon...stay tuned.

Great news!

Do you remember when Veronica told you about the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival and how it has joined our family.  Well, we now have Pam Clarke as a featured teacher!  She will be teaching 2 classes a day each day, for three days, so that is a total of six classes!  We're so excited!

Doesn't this picture look like her class would be the best class ever.  looks like she is having so much fun!!!  Ok, this is not really her classroom, but doesn't she look like she has the most fun.

I even have a picture with her.  She fell in love with me!!!  all the women do!!!

So come on and join us at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival.  Our website is in progress and will be updated pretty soon.  We'll let you know when it s up and going.  Our show is August 13-15, 2015, so put it on your calendar and we'll see you there!

Here are some books that she has written.  Very good books.

Hawaii here we come

Yes, we were worried that Carnival was going to take all of our rooms.  We've got room for  a few more quilters.  The whole ship is sold out except for our few rooms.  So if you wanted to go, you had better get moving.  We've got 8 spaces left.

Kaye Wood will be teaching her Quilting the Kaye Wood way.  You don't want to miss out.  So call Mike at Rockport Tours, his number is 888-937-3488.  He will get you hooked up to go on this cruise with Kaye, Veronica and me, Jaggie the Bear.  See you onboard.

Tip Thursday-Yes, we're back

Grip-n-Press
Tip Thursday is all about the Grip-n-Press this month.  The original one was brown and orange, but now we make them in silver and black.  The Grip-n-Press has a grippy surface on the bottom and a non-stick (Applique Pressing Sheet)  surface on top.

See, this is what the bottom of the sheet looks like.

It is an ironing board protector and can also be used as a multi purpose craft sheet.  The Grip-n- Press allows you to use virtually any surface as an ironing surface.  It is easy to carry, you just roll it up and carry it to class.

In this picture, we are ironing fusible web to a piece of fabric.

OOOPS!  We got some of the fusible hanging over the edge of the fabric.  Not a problem, when you pull the fabric up, the fusible web stays on the Grip-n-Press!

How do you get it off?  Easy.  It just peels right off!  Nothing sticks to the Grip-n-Press.  This makes a great protector for your ironing board cover.  No more sticky residue from fusible web!

So, here is an older one, some are still being sold, and there is nothing wrong with them, we just switched to a different color.  So either color works.

Hope you like the Grip-n-Press, I love mine.

Here is another use for it.  A hat in case it's raining outside.  The rain will roll right off of it!  At least according to Veronica's grandson it will.

Scrap Happy

On Saturday November 22, 2014 Veronica will be teaching her Scrap Happy class over at Cactus Quilts in Texas City.  The class will be working on a Tennessee Waltz pattern.  Just grab some scraps, grab a friend and head on over to Texas City for this great class.  The class starts at 10:30, they will sew until abut 3:30 in the afternoon.  This is a great quilt in scraps.  Here is a pttern of  quilt made in blues, but with scraps you get a great "pop" of color.

Come join us!

What's this?

This is the newest member of out family!  Scott sent this to Veronica.  She wanted a light weight machine that had a thread cutter and an extension table.  This is what arrived a few days later.  This is an EX30.  This machine is so light,  Veronica just puts in a tote bag, throws it over her shoulder and off to class she goes.  It's got a 1/4" foot for piecing.  It sews like a dream!   Want one?  Call Scott at Citrus Sew and Vac 352-620-0225, tell them Jaggie the Bear said to call.  They can drop one in the mail, well, rather UPS for you and you'll have it in a couple of days.  And yes, we know it's not a Janome, but Janome is the parent company.

More fun in my room on the cruise ship

Our cabin steward made us this snake.  Scarrrrry!

Here I am hanging out with my new buddy.

Close up.

Here is my balloon hat I got after an outing in Cozumel.  Pretty flower.  I can't eat this one, it's a balloon after all.

This is the one they made for Scott, just a little big for me.

I got this guy joining the party after we got back from Cozumel.

Bonnie Hunter's cruise class

Here we are with some pictures form Bonnie's class on our cruise.  We had a great time and so did 25 other ladies in each class.  There were 4 classes in two days and so we had 100 really happy ladies  working on  this great quilt.

Here is Scott.  he's gonna help me on sew on the 15000 that we brought along.

Here I am, ready to go.  I soooooooo love this machine.  This is Version 2.  Thanks Scott.

Here is another one of her quilts.

This is Roll Cotton Boll Roll.  Veronica has this one half done.

What a great time we all had.  Maybe you should think about joining us on one of our cruises.

Found the cord! Then computer problems, but we're back!!!

Look what I found laying around.  Somebody has an Applique Pressing Sheet in their class bag.  I feel right at home now.  We've been having some really crazy waves and quite a few have gotten sick, but I'm feeling the feelings of home.  So I'm good.

Here I am with Kim Diehl.  She was one of the teachers on ther cruise and she even gave me one of her patterns.  Well, Ok, she really gave it to Veronica , but it's a small pattern so I know the quilt will be for me.

This is the view form Sam's room.  You know Sam, he works for Janome and goes on a lot of cruises with us.  He got sick one day too and had to leave the classroom.

Here I am talking to Scott.  He was telling me all about the new Version 2.  15000 machine that we had on board.

This is Sam's monkey.  Isn't this a great room?

More later.

Cruising into Cozumel

Here is my room aboard the Navigator of the Seas.  Well ok, I have to share with Veronica, but it's ok.  I do like her and she is a pretty good roomie.

My bed is so soft and I have this huge window to look out at the sea below.

Well, off to work we go.  We've got machines to set up.  75 to be exact.  We've got Janome's 8900 machines.  I love that machine and so does Veronica, she owns two of them.   This is Scott from Citrus Sew and Vac, he's pretending to work, but secretly I think he's trying to nap.

We spent Monday in Bonnie Hunter's class.  Here is the quilt they are working on.

Here is part of her class.

And here I am in the back of the room with my machine.

More of Bonnie.

Bonnie came over to check and see how I was doing on my block, but secretly I think she just needed a cuddle from me.

More pictures from the cruise when we get home. See you Monday...
