Vacation

Jaggie has not forgotten about you.  First of all, we got on the Global blacklist.  So we got off of that, we hope.  The the new computer, 2 months old, blew a gasket.  Then Jaggie got a new phone and all of the pictures from the last cruise and Myrtle Beach just disappeared.  Samsung girl, said something about we have to do this and that and I don't know what else.  Well, we're off another cruise, computer is still with the "Geeks" at Best Buy, so we're going on vacation till the 2nd of March. Hopefully March will be a better month.

01 - Quiltsmart Mini Mariner's Compass

Instructor: Veronica Cox

Veronica will teach you to navigate your way with a short cut to piecing this classic quilt pattern. Using a special interfacing made by Quiltsmart, you will be able to complete this intricate quilt in a fast and easy way. The completed mariner's compass block measures 21" x 21".

Kit includes the pattern, fabrics and Quiltsmart special interfacing.

02 - Puss in a Corner
Instructor: Lynn Roddy Brown

This class is to be a fun, no pressure day of sewing. Lynn will cover scrap quilt theory, precise piecing and designing on a wall. Fabrics from you stash can be used to make this delightfully scrappy version of a traditional Puss in a Corner quilt. The 64" x 81" size is great for naps. The wonderful thing about scrap quilts is that if you are having fun you can make a larger quilt but if you want to stop with a smaller project that also works.

Kit includes the pattern and fabrics.

03 - Illuminated Journey©2014 Karen Overton

I found another picture from our cruise.  Can you see it, it's kinda' hard.  There is an Indian, a construction worker, a police officer, do you see where I'm going with this?  Yes, the whole atruim, from deck 2 to 13 were singing YMCA!  Yes, we were.  What a fun time.  They even had John Travolta join us.  Ok, so I guess it wasn't the real John Travolta, but he was pretty good looking anyway, or so the ladies said.  I ran off to the dining room,I heard they had a bowl of blueberries, yuuuummmmy, my favorite.

New Adventure

Veronica and I are off onto another adventure.  This one will be taking us away from home for a whole month.  We're leaving on Monday morning.  Our first stop will be in Florida, yes, we're going to go to Scott's store.  We'll actually only be there for one night before Scott, Veronica and I jump in his van and drive up to Myrtle Beach.  Why are we going to Myrtle Beach?  Well, remember Debbie Caffery?

Well, she's got a retreat in Myrtle Beach and we're going!   I miss her, she is a grrrrreat hugger.  We'll be there for a while and then we're off to Florida.  Veronica will be staying with one of her friends and we'll hit 3 guilds, including the Martin County Quilt Guild.  Veronica will be there giving a lecture and workshop.  Then we're off to Austin, Texas for a few days for the Modern Quilt Guild Show, then we fly back to Florida, hop aboard another cruise ship and sail off to the Caribbean once again.  Then we finally come home in March, or we might stay for another quilt show in Tampa.
We're working on that.

We'll let know where we're at.  Keep up with us and see where we're at.

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

Hello, where did everybody go???

So Friday started off as normal, we sewed and sewed.  We got done at noon.  Scott and Veronica put all the machines up and then we had a farewell party,  After the farewell party we went to dinner. We had pork chops and mashed potatoes, oh, so good, they have the best mashed potatoes.  After dinner, Michelle, the travel agent on this cruise came to our room to talk to us.  Vickie jumped in the shower at about 6:45 p.m. (time is important).  Now keep up, here we go--the best part.  So half way through her shower, Vickie screams out, (why?, you ask).  Seems all the power went out on the ship. Yep, really, it did.  So after we figure out that we are not the only ones in the dark, we get the iPad for Vickie to have some light.  We sent Michelle back to her room, and darn if she didn't have power. So we sit in the dark.  Then Veronica decides she's going to take her shower.  About 8:00 p.m. the Captain says "ladies and gentlemen, ... we seem to have a water leak", WHAT???  Water leak?  Not good, we're IN the water.  So 8:01 p.m. and we're out of our room.  They announce they're going to have a comedian in the half of the ship that has power. so off we go.  Then our cabin steward tells us that decks 0 and 1 are flooded.  Ok, where are the life jackets?  Where is my life boat?  Stay calm, we don't need them...yet.  Ok, 9:30 p.m. we go back to our room, WE GOT ONE GLOW STICK!!!!!   That'll take care of the dark cabin, the dark halls, try going to potty in the dark.  Ok, we're fine.  We're in a sauna, so maybe I'll lose some weight tonight.  We call Scott, he's got power, he's upset cause he has no TV, Really?  I'm sleeping with my clothes and a life jacket on in the dark and he wants TV!

So now Veronica decides she's going to try to get some sleep, 'cause she has to drive us home tomorrow. So she gets her jammies on, gets in bed but only after they set up a "trap" for anyone trying to sneak into their room, 'cause they are going to sleep with the doors open.  Here is the"trap" in case you need one.  Put a table in front of the door, then a chair and then the garbage can.  Then if somebody sneaks in, you'll here a couple of tha, thunks and then you get up and beat him with your glow stick!

Well, we were almost asleep and Scott pops in to "protect" us.  I guess from the other glow sticks on our deck.  He had a little light, and he's swinging it like a disco ball, that was fun.  Good thing I didn't have a seizure.  Then at midnight, the Captain says, Ladies and ... a little worse than we thought..., what, now deck 2 is flooded.  Yikes, it's coming up!  Then our cabin steward, Taylor and his supervisor, Allison decide we need light.  They bring a 4 foot long light bulb to tape it to our door. When Veronica saw Allison with it, she said "Are we having Star War battles?"  Allison says, "who is your father"  and after we died laughing Veronica says "no,no,no, it's Luke, I am your father" then they proceeded to tape the flood light to out door.  You could land a jet, and we're trying to go to sleep.  We kick Scott out, crawl under the blankets and gets a couple hours of sleep.  Nobody tried to get in our room, Taylor and Allison patrolled our halls all night long.  Their rooms were on deck 1, they told us in the morning that their rooms were flooded.  We got dressed in the dark, went to eat breakfast and got off   the ship.

Here is our ship again, Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas.

It left a day late, so I guess they got the "leak" fixed.  What an adventure!  I guess they have better PR people than Carnival.

Grand Cayman and Cozumel

Day 4, we got to Grand Cayman.    Here I am, sailing away in Cayman.  We had fun, fun, fun.  We shopped till we dropped.  We took lots of pictures, but again, they're gone.  So we got lots of walking in.  We went and had the best fish sandwich ever.  Check out my new clothes.  We got these in Jamaica.  I got a Rasta hat, I love it.  My shirt says Jamaica on the back.  Thanks Scott, he always buys the best clothes.

Day 5 we arrived in Cozumel.  Yes, that great fish sandwich caused Veronica to have achy joints, so we took a taxi into town.  We went to the swing bar.  No not a swinging bar, a swing bar.  They don't have seats to sit on, they have swings.  So we ate lunch while in our swing.  We had an awesome lunch.  We love this restaurant.  This donkey was outside the restaurant.  I just had to jump on for a picture.  Isn't he cute?

Oh, and I got a balloon bracelet.  See it on my wrist?  This is my bed, I have to share with Veronica because Vickie is in the other bed.

She has to share with Bunbun.  He's got really big ears.

Tomorrow is our last day to sew.  Then we put the machines up and get ready to get off on day 7.  Come back for more adventures.  Tomorrow we have the best adventure of the whole week.

Technical Difficulties

Well,we're back from our cruise.  It was great right up until the day before we got home.  This was a very memorable trip.  We had no wi-fi in Jamaica, or Cayman or Cozumel.  We took lots and lots of great pictures, but Kevin got Veronica a new smartphone on Sunday and they lost all the pictures in the transfer.  Let's just say she is not a happy camper right now.  See is so mad, she's returning the phone and getting back her crappy phone that does not lose pictures.

We did get one of me,  Jaggie in class with Scott.  Check out my VIP tag, I got that from the cruise people.  It really should be a VIB, you know Very Important Bear.  We'll, let it go, this time.

So let's start on day one.  Veronica's been having a little more difficult time with her food sensitivities and allergies this past month, and she didn't want to be sick on the cruise so she decided she would tell the food staff before she went.  All the paperwork was in and they told her to check in with the chef on day one.  So there they all go to see the chef and discuss food.  All went well, until dinner.  Veronica ordered a Caesar Salad, she got a bowl of lettuce, she asked for the cheese, they told her she couldn't eat cheese.  She told them she just wanted a little bit, she told them she could handle that, sooooooooo, they brought her a huge bowl of cheese.  She took half a teaspoon and sprinkled it on her salad, then they passed the bowl around and everybody at the table got more cheese, when it came back around it still looked full.  Then on the first night in the room, Veronica sneezed and coughed all night long, Vickie and I were about to throw her overboard!  Vickie got up and put in earplugs.  Poor Vickie.

Then day 2, we were sailing away and sewing  and then dinner comes along, same thing.  Veronica got a sweet potato with her meal and she was so happy.  The chicken was ok, nothing to write home about, and then they get to the room.  More sneezing and coughing, so now we're figuring it's got to be something in the room.  This is the only place this happens.

Day 3, we get to Jamaica, and Mr. Walker picks us up.  He always picks us up and drives us where we need to go when we go to Jamaica.  So he takes us to Negril, it's 2 hours away but a great beach.  Nobody was there, it was great.  I got to be the lifeguard, but those pictures got lost.  We ate cheeseburgers, fish, shrimp, lots of fries and even took a dip in the water.  Do you know that everybody honks their horns in Jamaica.  You honk, hang out the window and yell at people, you yell to say hi, you yell for them to get out of the way, you yell at them to tell the person you hit you're sorry and keep on going.  We had a great time and we even went shopping when we got back.  Here is a picture of our ship on the way back to it.

Yeah, ours is the little one.  The one next to us was the Oasis of the Seas,  we were on Serenade of the Seas.

So when we got back, we were informed that because Veronica mentioned the sneezing and coughing in the cabin, they had steamed and wiped down our room with vinegar.  They changed the filters and the took all of the towels and linens and washed them in a special soap.  Guess what, no sneezing, or coughing!  Yippppeeee!

So tomoroow I'll tell you all about Cayman, I gotta go check things out in the warehouse.  You know this bear is nosy.

We're at Sea

Ahoy!  Jaggie here, Veronica and I sailed away on Saturday from New Orleans on a quilt cruise. You know the speaker that we had at Dayton last week.  Well, I put her in my suitcase and took her with us.  Ok, not really.  She works for Veronica and so we decided that we had so much fun with her at work that we would have a blast on a cruise with her.  Tomorrow we will be in Jamiaca and we will try to get you some pictures, but if we can't find wi-fi, we won't be able to.  On Wednesday we'll be in Grand Cayman and Thursday we will be in Cozumel.  I know we'll have wi-fi in Cozumel and pretty sure we can get it in Cayman, so plan to see pictures of our trip.

Western Caribbean

Doesn't this look relaxing?????????????/  and warm, we're freezing here!

Grrrrrrrrrrrreat Speaker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, wow, wow is all I can say.  Vickie Stipe was our speaker at Dayton Quilt Guild on Wednesday morning. She was wonderful!   She's got funny stories and lots of quilts that were just wonderful.  Here are a few, yes, only a few.

Remember this is only a few of the quilts she brought.  We sure did love all of them.  Thanks Vickie.
